Plastics We Recycle

Method 1: Selling your rigid plastic waste to LINPAC Packaging (Plastics Recycling Division)

We recycle three plastics in high volumes:- Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), Polystyrene (PS).

Any of these can either be post-industrial or post-consumer waste in origin.

Post-Industrial Sources can include off-cuts or off-spec products, and using our washing and separating facility we can recycle waste that was previously considered unrecoverable.

Post-Consumer Sources include a variety of products from crates, drums and vending cups to household bottles, yoghurt pots and coat hangers.

For a new supply of waste plastic we require a sample and a brief history of the material to assess the possibility of using it in our process. Below are a selection of frequently asked questions from companies looking to supply us with plastic waste.

What volume and frequency of supply will we consider?

Although we prefer a reliable, large and regular supply of material to help us meet market demand, any reasonable quantity (around 4-5 pallets) will be considered even if it is just a one-off batch.

What consistency of material are we looking for?

Ideally the material should be all of the same type from the same process or source, Material which is not consistent however can be processed in our washing and separation facility before we use it to make our product. It is important for us to know if the material properties change either within a supplied batch or between batches.

What quality or standard of material can be recycled?

There are different grades of each material, for example pipe grade and crate grade polyethylene. Some grades are of a higher quality than others. If you are unsure what grade your material is we can test a sample.

How should the waste be packaged?

This depends on the form of the waste. It is usual for raw materials to be packed on pallets for loading / off-loading with a conventional fork lift truck. However, we also receive polyethylene bottles from companies which are packaged in bales.

What is the value of the material?

This depends entirely on quality and identity. Different grades of the same polymer will have different values and these can be altered radically if these materials are dirty or mixed.

Will we collect?

Yes, although suppliers can deliver if they prefer. The transport costs are simply reflected in the value of the transaction.

These questions and answers give an idea of the areas we look at before deciding if we can use the waste. However each specific case is different so if you are looking at alternatives disposal techniques for rigid plastic waste, or even if you just want some advice with a recycling problem please contact us and fill out our enquiry form.
